Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours. The Miami Dolphins added several players this offseason in the hopes that they can actually win a playoff game this upcoming season instead of being one and done in the postseason. One player who should provide a big boost to the Dolphins is tight end, Jonnu Smith. The Dolphins didn’t have a receiving tight at tight end last season and Smtih is a perfect fit for the Mike McDaniel offense. Are there still positions that still need some help? Absolutely. We can only hope the Dolphins add some quality veterans to help shore up those needs. You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below. 12 hours ago Phinsider Question Of The Day: Wide Receivers Edition
Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Sometimes, you see an NFL team go through the offseason needing depth at a position they never seem to be able to fill before they head into camp. Our Miami Dolphins are no different, but if there is a position we should feel good about depth-wise long before training camp begins, it’s wide receiver. The Miami Dolphins website currently has Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as the starters. Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft are the second-stringers, and that’s before you add in the recent signing of Odell Beckham. So, assuming that the Dolphins only carry the customary six wide receivers, there’s only a single roster spot left to fill. None of that is to say that Craycraft or Berrios will make it through the roster cuts this summer, but both have something going for them. The coaching staff values Craycraft due to his ability to block, and Berrios, even if not spectacular at doing so, is someone they have confidence in returning kicks as he never seems to fumble on any of his returns. Beyond those five, the team also has Erik Ezukanma, Braylon Sanders, Anthony Schwartz, and Matthew Sexton on the roster, bringing the number of wideouts to nine. Then there are the two draft picks, Malik Washington and Tahj Washington, giving the team 11 wide receivers, at this point, heading into camp. Hill, Waddle, and Beckham are safe from being cut before the season begins. However, Beckham’s deal is structured to allow the team to dump him before the season starts if he gets injured or beat out by another WR in camp with little financial pain. So, with those three seemingly a given to make the roster, there are only three more roster spots to go around. Given his production in college and barring some unforeseen thing happening in camp, I am reasonably confident that we will see Malik Washington make the roster. I am also curious if this is the year that they finally pass on the guy who always looks excellent in pre-season but then vanishes once the season begins, Erik (Easy E) Ezukanma. Beyond that, I feel like the others must show they are unique in some way or just flat-out better than everyone else in the lower tier of players to make the roster. So tonight's question of the day is, which wideouts do you foresee making this year's roster and why? Please give us your thoughts and answers in the comments section below-
